As the disciples wrestled with status, position, and power, Jesus redirected their attention to a very different way of living. In His kingdom, greatness is not measured by prominence, recognition, or being served by others.

True greatness is found in humility.
It is revealed through service.
And it is shaped by the example of Christ Himself.

Jesus did not come to claim earthly status or demand honor. He came to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.

That means the path upward in the kingdom of God is actually the path downward — the willing laying aside of self in order to love, serve, and honor others.

This passage reminds us that following Jesus will always challenge our natural instincts. We want importance. He calls us to surrender. We seek position. He points us to servanthood.

And in doing so, He shows us that greatness in the eyes of God is not about being above others, but pouring ourselves out for them.
